Pet Omen

I was reading through the In Which We Mock Our Pets category, getting a retrospective of all the Goldie posts, and ran into the last few posts about Mac the Dog.

First, the dog was sick for hours, and yet I spoke of how sudden it all was. I had almost an entire day to get used to the idea the dog had a problem. Now I know what a luxury that was.

Second, in the future I will freak out if a pet sleeps, like both Mac and Goldie ” … with his face on my foot, my favorite position.” I will think it’s an omen.

Goldie’s been gone for a week now. Gary won’t talk about other cats anymore; he says it hurts his heart.

He was up late last night making kissing sounds to the baby raccoons through the window screens, though.

  1. DO NOT ADOPT A RACCOON. Or a monkey, which is probably worse.
I think terror would severely reduce the enjoyment of the perfect Pet Snuggle Moment, yes. Sigh.
