Tornado

Usually I’m quite happy to live near the weather service office, because it makes the TV tornado maps easy to read. The center of the radar beacon is the weather office, which is just a few miles from my house as the crow flies, or, as the tornado spins.

Today, though, I did not appreciate being awakened by the tornado sirens at 4:26 am. The TV meteorologist said there was a tornado right over the weather service office, and the workers there were seeking shelter. It was a little alarming to picture the staff sounding the sirens and then running to their office basement, so I went to my basement too.

Turns out it was just a tiny tornado, didn’t even touch down. And I don’t mean to suggest the weather service office employees might have been a little excitable. I think Steve on Google maps said it best.
