Favorite Movie

Okay, Poor Things did jostle Brief Encounter off my Favorite Movie pedestal, but only briefly, and only because it features a brain-damaged woman with a funny walk who blurts out everything in her head. It was funny, but it was not the hilarious romp that is Brief Encounter.

Granted, many people think Brief Encounter is sad, but that’s because it is told from the point of view of the adults. They need to reboot that movie, make the children the focus, and call it Pantomime.

Because really, the kids are the driving force of the plot. Little girl Margaret keeps her parents together just because she exists. Could I do that? Evidently not.

And of course, thank God for that; I am ultimately thrilled Mummy got us a better Daddy.
