Strep throat is coursing through the ranks at TeddyJ. Co-workers have it , their children have it, I don’t have it, because I’ve never had it.
This week I learned these things about strep.
- The most recent strain of Covid feels like strep throat. Doctors ready a Covid test when adult patients suspect strep.
- Strep throat is not the only place you can get strep. Strep vagina is a real thing.
- Strep, like syphilis, is treated with penicillin.
Related: Tune in tomorrow to hear the results of the penicillin allergy test.

Strep vagina sounds horrifying, but apparently isn’t? So that’s interesting.
(the time I really remember having strep was on a trip back from visiting relatives, some 20+ hours of transit. Do *not* recommend being stuck in planes and airports while having strep.)
Strep vagina is very mild. You could have it right now and not know it.
It’s why they give you a Group B Strep test before you have a baby. So the first gift you give your child is not strep from your vagina, which is generally considered a poor baby gift.
AH – “generally considered.” Hilarious!
