This week Hunky Gary went from this:

… to this.

I am done with it. Parts I like, parts I don’t.

  1. It looks so good!!!
Excellent work, especially given each of the potentially-catastrophic things you surmounted along the way.

  2. I would bet that if the greenery behind the shoulder on the right side of the picture was darkened to “blur” the line a little more then that might reduce focus on shoulder balance/equality/relative-squareness? (but also: it’s a foreshortened picture and the shoulders had to be moved from where they were originally because his neck was in the wrong place and you were *not* going to redo his face. and the shoulders won’t lay totally evenly relative to each other when someone is actually standing in that pose in general anyway, when someone’s muscles are substantial, because one arm is over the other one. It’s okay for the shoulders to have ended up imperfect!)

  3. KC – a friend looked at this and said immediately, “his shoulders are wrong.” I think you are right, I made a devils bargain with the shoulders early on. After this I have decided: no more work from photos. Back to painting croquet balls.
