Last week’s visit to the neurologist provided some notable neurology news.
- We are not putting our faith in Evusheld: it is gone. Paxlovid is the new great hope. Supposedly when you catch Covid (and you will) if you take pains to get on Paxlovid as soon as you can, then there’s only a 10 percent chance you’ll go in the hospital. As long as your baseline health is better than David Crosby’s you should be fine.
- The CDC still has not said if MS patients get to use up the scrap expired booster shots.
- I should not be too concerned about dying from bile duct cancer like my brother, because they look at my liver numbers every six months. Of course, they looked at David’s liver numbers for the last three years because he had ascending cholangitis. Well, and to be honest, he probably had cancer then and didn’t tell me.
- There are other bladder treatments that fall in the spectrum between “expensive and useless” and bladder botox, so I now have the name of a bladder specialist.
- Finally, according to the memory test I take every five years, my memory has improved by a few points. This will be news for my coworkers, who have just this week had to remind me of things that happened six months ago.
