Good Things: No Terror at 30,000 Feet

The options for getting to Albuquerque are fly or drive. It’s an 18 hour drive or an 18 hour flight — only I don’t want to share a plane or an airport with the BQ variant. There are shorter flights, those would be ideal. And there’s first class, that would be ideal too. As I say, I am frequent flyer rich.

On the other hand, driving for 18 hours with bathroom stops and rest stops and maybe a sleep stop sounds more controllable, and I could always fly back. You can use frequent flyer miles to rent a car too.

Equal positives and negatives. Hard to make a decision.

I ended up in the first row of first class on the shortest flight. On both legs of the flight all the people in Row 1 were masked (no one else). On Leg 1 the woman next to me said, “Oh, you’re masked. Do you want me to wear a mask?” And she did.

Oh, full disclosure. On the next leg one individual in my row was not masked: a wee Jack Russell terrier sporting a Service Dog vest.

  1. I love that the lady saw your mask and offered to mask and then *wore a mask*!
I have read that airplane air filtering is really good now, such that the recirculated air is clean and you only really need to worry about adjacent passengers. How adjacent, I do not know, but anyway, it’s something. (and if your mask is a good-enough fit and stays snugly on for the entire flight, it also matters a whole lot less what other people do, which is nice)
But anyway! We now know that there is at least *one* non-automatically-mask-wearing American who is observant and kind about wearing a mask! Hooray!
(and teeny service dog!!!)(and I continue to be sorry that this situation sucks in so many ways. long-distance hugs to you.)

Comment, even if you aren't on WordPress. Make up a name. Fine by me.
