A Brief Hitch

Well, my plan to get some protection against the virus hit a snag. The plan was:

Qualify for a protective dose of Evusheld. I still wouldn’t be leaving the house, because of Gary and other vulnerable people, but at least if I caught the Covid on the wind it would be less dire.

For that, I need my heart to be in good shape.

To that end, I need to get my cholesterol down.

Therefore, statins: hopefully ones that would not affect my liver enzymes too much.

So, this was discouraging.

Those bad liver enzyme numbers were curse-worthy when I saw them on the patient portal. Gary tried to cheer me up by reminding me that even if I didn’t have a compromised immune system from the MS drugs, I’d still be compromised by my age, so why even try.

Still, doctors know better, and the doctor’s keeping me on the statin for another six weeks to see if the numbers settle down. I guess it’s possible that this was just a hiccup. One of those two numbers is always high from the Mayzent.

I know people who are so young they take no pills. Can you imagine? Here I am taking pills so that I can be rewarded with more pills.
