Earplugs

I’ve had awful sleep lately.

One night there were animals rattling around in our attic (or possibly on the roof), chittering loudly enough to wake me.

The next night Gary was the animal rattling around. He can’t get comfortable, so he switches positions in bed, and then he hurls himself in the bedroom chair, and thrashes and sighs, and last night it woke me up all the way across the hall.

I stomped into his room and sighed “JESUS” in a very non-reverential way.

Evidently, when he repositions himself he still maintains all his REMs, because he sounded like he was taking in his sleep when he answered, “…earplugssszzzzzz.”

As it turned out, I had an entire box of earplugs I forgot I bought on Amazon Prime day, and they worked perfectly. They worked so well I forgot about them until this morning, when I was momentarily alarmed when a neon green cone of foam sprang out of my ear into my coffee.
