Tivo

Gary and I are again establishing ourselves as Werther’s-Certified Old Folks. I am so old I remember my mother’s satin foam Nefertiti coiffure wrap she wore to bed to maintain her salon hairstyle. (I would show you a photo but it is so vintage they may not have had cameras.)

Here is how we recently re-certified in Old. Gary’s ten year old TiVo died. We had a chance to burn the TV technology to the ground and we didn’t take it. Instead of getting rid of cable, switching to a fire stick and streaming, or whatever it is kids do today, we decided to get a new TiVo to replace the old one.

Why? Because we are Too Old to Change (TOtC).

Are the new ways better? Probably. The Young People At Work (YPaW) kindly resisted the urge to say, Grandma, no one has a TiVo anymore, until I pressed them.

It’s probably a mistake, because Gary says this model is the last one TiVo is producing. Ten years from now we won’t have the TiVo box as an option. And then we will really be too old to pick the best technology. I hope the on-line Best Buy salespeople are kind to us.
