Weekly Paint Progress: 5/28

This week the cenote went from this …

to this ..

The top of the hole is too straight, and it needs a dappled shadow at the top of the hole, and I took the contrast down too much on the tree. Damn. Will this never end? The most satisfying part is adding the detail, but by the time I get there I am so sick with whatever I’m painting I want it to be over.

I had enough extra paint after I mixed up the ripples to match that I painted a background for something else:

… and the copper bowl went from this ..

… to this …

  1. Sorry for the un-improvements, but the improvements do look good, at least! 🙂
And whew, that’s zippy work on the copper bowl with flowers!

  2. KC – I think the copper bowl will provide some quick reinforcement. I stopped aiming at anything with the cenote, and that’s why I fell it isn’t progressing to even an accurate representation.

  3. Yeah, once you stop knowing what you’re going for, progress is often slow and uncertain and step-forward-step-back-ish, because you don’t know until you do something whether it’s going to be “towards” or “away” particularly.
I hope copper bowl supports you well!

  4. KC – I anticipate it will be fun – looks like it’s all loose until the detail stage.

  5. Love both the pond and the copper bowl. I specifically like the tree in the most recent painting. And the variant shades of lavender are lovely!
