Weekly Paint Progress 1/30

On to the dual projects.

I’m starting with the easy one:

BF90B252-4A8F-4B69-9E2A-31642D716E7A

and – not counting tracing – after 90 minutes I’m this far:

112C8E52-0BF5-461E-8D7E-4282EB2E6076

Here’s the tricky one:

DEACEF53-D6EC-468B-9A67-0B82B23779E2

… and that is a nightmare. It’s much larger, so tracing was not an option. I tried to do a value study and eventually wiped most of down with turpentine.

I’m really not sure how I’m going to make the yellow light seem translucent. Forget cast shadows, now I’m trying cast light. Doomed.

  1. KC – I mean, it’s just a color. I don’t know how to get out of my own head. With watercolors the light is where you DON’T paint. Painting light is a new concept.
