A few days ago, CNN promised me some huge breaking news and instead delivered a mentally ill person who happened to be the former CEO of Overstock.com.
I find it really troubling that at no point did a producer pull the plug on this interview. Evidently Chris Cuomo’s relatives are all in perfect mental and physical health, so he doesn’t know what a bipolar episode or a fugue state sounds like.
Afterward, he and Don Lemon discussed if the man was – I think the word was ‘cuckoo’ – and they tried to give some credence to the man’s story.
I say a real journalist should have checked the names and checked the evidence before putting it on the air, not after, but this is the age we live in.
