The Adjustment Bureau must be the most poorly marketed movie I have ever seen. This would be Gone With the Wind if they’d marketed it as a war movie. Star Wars if they’d said it was a quirky indie film. Reservoir Dogs? Animated film about puppies.
What would you assume from this poster?
1. Emily Blunt plays a woman with one leg.
2. Emily and amputee Matt Damon have made it to the top of a NY skyscraper.
3. They were chased by a giant man with a hat.
That poster says Chase! Excitement! Spooky shadowy stuff! Intrigue with hats! A dick flick. Not to mention it was inspired by a story from Phllip K Dick, so you know it’ll be like Blade Runner or Minority Report.
BUT NO! This is a sweet romantic picture. Sweet, I tell you. Total chick flick. Yes, there’s a chase scene – maybe two? But mainly it’s about how the two leads keep meeting accidentally, falling in love, and how the Men In Hats try to keep them apart. It has a perfect weepy sappy ending and everything.
Star-crossed lovers! THIS is the shot they should have put on the poster:
On the other hand, because some new analytics tool tells me HALF of you are men:
Don’t go see The Adjustment Bureau, guys. Total chick flick.

Added to my Netflix queue.
Which categorized it as Sci Fi and Fantasy. I wonder why Netflix didn’t recommend this to me. Oh that’s right, Netflix only recommends movies that are at least 5 years old.
Wendy – I hope you like it.
