I believe I’ve mentioned this before: once when I was in high school, I got a little lost at the St. Louis Art Museum. I know there was an archway, and a hall by the elevator, and down half a flight of steps and suddenly I was in a room with a long lineup of antique chairs. The next weekend I went back, and the chair room was gone; guards had no idea what I was talking about. And it was never heard from again for the next ten years while they renovated the East Wing, then suddenly it was back in restored glory as the Decorative Arts rooms.
Well, it seems our new Brigadoon is the Director’s Cut of That Thing You Do. Gary came bouncing into the room last night claiming to have stayed up late watching the movie and there were all new scenes. I watched it all today and, no,I said, you were asleep on the couch and dreamed all this DJ scene nonsense. As it turns out, last night was one of the showings of the “extended cut.” I’ve always assumed the reason TTYD seems choppy is because I always miss the first half hour, but evidently not.
So the DVD is on its way, with the extended version and deleted scenes about homosexuality. And maybe some new CGI animation, could be.

Why delete the homo stuff?
I love this movie, even in the unextended form. I may have to check out this Director’s cut version myself. Especially if there is more of Tom Everett Scott to see.
.75 – I think it made a minor character too interesting, and it was too distracting, maybe? I dont know yet.Kristie – I dont know if it’s worthwhile so I can’t recommend it yet. Gary feels the edited version is better, but the long version was a novelty.
That movie is about a band from the town I live in… not that that is relevant in anyway, but you always ask why I don’t actually leave my comments on here… come to think of it, that’s a rather underwhelming way to begin… anyway, the didn’t actually film it here (the bastards) they got the info about how Erie looked at the time, checked out the buildings that are still around and built a soundsatage.Still, it’s about my town…And since we’re on the subject, Extreme Makeover:Home Edition will be coming here in a few weeks… again, not very pertinent.See why I just leave the comments on Facebook? They have a character limit 😀
Leprrkan – I went to Indiana University a few months after they filmed “Breaking Away.” That’s all I have to say about that. I am reminded of the comments on the post on how to cook rice. It was all “THIS is how I cook rice” and they were all excellent. Besides, my comments are crap too.
