It’s so exciting! I was just watching his acceptance speech live on our 6pm news and thinking of all you guys who must be so thrilled. Interestng times to come – but not in the proverbial sense, I do so hope.
Oh, and it’s November 5th here now, which is Guy Fawkes, so we have people pointlessly shooting fireworks into a bright sky to mark an ancient plot to blow up parliament and national government with it, as well as ex-pat Americans doing the same to celebrate a new order. It’s a complicated old world.

I was very excited about this election, but I have to admit I was surprised at how emotional I got when he actually won, and what a great feeling it is! I’ve been voting in a lot of elections (the privilege of Being Old – well, middle aged at least, I guess!) now, and this is the first time I was ever this excited and, dare I say it, hopeful!What a great result. Now, let’s hope we can indeed all work together and quit acting like idiots and start solving some problems!Welcome to the office, President Obama.
I cried like a baby! It really is the most wonderful election of my lifetime. Of course, I cried like a baby when Bush got elected both times. This was a much better cry!
Big Dot – I am thrilled. Fireworks seem appropriate. .75 – I know – evidently Velma City, a city I never heard of by UMSL, had people voting until 10. I guess they won’t recount – or do they?Mary – I haven’t ever been this excited about a candidate, either. Judith – Ha! I haven’t cried yet. Jasse Jackson was doing my crying for me.
My niece was in that “mob” she said it was the best party she’s ever been to. There was dancing, singing, spontaneous hugging. She didn’t go home until 4am. The only downside was that she forgot to bring any money so she had to walk the 2 miles from the White House back to her apt.
Amy in StL – I was in a party with police in riot gear once (IU won the NCAA championship). Actually, mine was kind of alarming. Hers sounds better.
