The Best Cookies

Gary was coming down with a cold this weekend. In fact, it was the cold I got a month ago. I felt such pity for him I made him oatmeal raisin cookies sans nuts.

Now, the oatmeal raisin cookies are my specialty cookies, but the last few times I’ve made them they disappointed. This time the butter was unsalted and throwing extra salt to compensate didn’t work.

Then we didn’t eat them all hot and chewy out of the oven, so the next morning we had a plate adhered to a humid glommed-up cookie pile.

So, what would you do? Poor baby needs cookies. I peeled the cookies apart and fried them. I grilled those babies like a cheese sandwich. Little butter in the pan, layer of cookies in the pan, saute them over easy, there you go.

Oh. Tangentially. “Easy” off the Cowboy Mouth “Easy” album is going on the Clinical Depression playlist. Check it out here.

  1. Hmmm. This reminds me that I came to you through your Pimp My Croissant post. My arteries are seizing up vicariously. Although I have to ask, did they go crisp, or hot and chewy? Damn! My mouth is watering.

  2. Oh hey, I just noticed Suebob posted my idea before I could post it. I just knew you were a wise and brilliant indiviual Suebob. Great minds and all.

  3. OK, this is getting a little scary – are the deep frying suggestions tongue in cheek or lip-lickingly genuine? I only ask because I know that in Glasgow they’re rather fond of deep-fried pizza: both battered and naked but, whichever, preferably with the cheapest kind of deep base because it soaks up more oil. (The deep fried Mars bar, incidentally, is a vicious rumour and Glaswegians are offended if you even hint that they would eat such an unhealthy item.)

  4. I, at least, was making fun of the situation BD, although one can get deep fried candy bars and twinkies at the State Fair here. I didn’t care for them much.

  5. Big Dot – MMMMMMmmmmm crispy and buttery. with chewy on top.Suebob – That’s what I would do with strips of pork and then dip them in barbeque sauce.Stljoie – One word for you. Butter.Magpie – Butter makes everything better.Zayrina- Sue Bob was quoting what I said way back when about fried pizza. That was when I heated the cold leftover pizza by frying it in butter.Big Dot redux – Why is deep fried protein acceptable, yet deep fried carbs are so scandalous? Hm. Deep Fried Fudge.Zayrina again!- I am so reminded when Jesus, on his blog, would post, “HelllLLLLOOOO … Jesus here….Hellllooooo???!!!!”
