Zip Line

Well after the brief scare Gary gave me (“I’m too sick to go on the zip line, waaaaa”), we packed up and went on the zip line excursion in Jamaica. I’ll let the photos do the talking.

These are the harnesses they strap you into:

They make you feel kick-ass invincible.

Gary skeptically evaluates his pulley:

After you walk down more steps than were in both WTC towers combined:

They take your harness and latch your pulleys on to two sturdy cables, then you just hurtle down them.

Hey, look at me, I look kind of dwarf-like in this picture:

Then after sliding/jumping down a series of 7 cables, you walk down another infinite series of steps and drink a beer while standing in a bamboo tree.

Gary had a beer too.

You know what’s pretty?

Rain forests.

It was a nice excursion. I felt like I could slide down zip lines for a living when I was done.

  1. Clearly you are not the only sock connoisseur in the family. It sounds like fun but I know I would be reduced to a screaming mess where I to try it.

  2. Good for you. Tom and I intended to do this very thing in St. Maarten last month, but chickened out after watching others. We just climbed the mountain instead. Which nearly killed me anyway.

  3. Zayrina – Oh, I screamed. And shhhh – Gary was very sensitive about the mis-matched socks and shoes.Christy – Yes, the climb is the worst part. I was looking forward to getting off my feet, even if it was to hang over a crevasse.Ajooja – It was fun. I screamed a lot.
