Odd Tea Party. After years of teas that begin in the dark, this one was in the light.
Even more strange: after years of relaxed adults and uptight kids, this year there were uptight adults …
and relaxed kids…
The kids were great partiers, even though Rebecca, above, was sitting on the cooler that contained the alcohol.
They were polite. They said “Thank you” every time they were prompted.
They encouraged their parents to dress appropriately.
They wore the hats.
They ate the food.
(That is the AFTER photo, by the way. Gary even said, “You know this year we came close to having too much food.” I think next year I’m just buying a smaller table, so we can still get the abundance Gary is going for without having to eat Marzipan Rosebuds for a month after.)
They did not text anyone.
They posed for photos.
They played music, and this just may be the lesion talking, but I think they sounded great.

And they were so cute you just wanted to eat them up.

Believe me, we practiced our manners a LOT earlier in the day. I’m particularly proud that our discussion of popsicles took. (There will be popsicles, but they are for the adults. You are not to ask for popsicles just because you see other people eating them.)We had a wonderful time. and by the way, there are so few events where children really get to use good manners that you are helping us raise future polite adults by inviting them. Thank you.
Great googly moogly, those were the LEFTOVERS?Do you ship? That stuff looks GOOD.
…and the bathroom…? :)You, my dear, are a glutton for punishment. My gosh!
I’m cracking up at the canine butler on the table…
Your husband is awesome but confuses me. That’s just too much food.
Caroline – your child is adorable. Very well mannered.Sherri and Angie – actually, after we divvied up the desserts three ways (mom, in-laws, and us) the only leftovers were wontons, ham, turkey, cheese and soup. They all freeze, so I call them groceries. Nothing will be wasted. Sue – oh, hush up. I cleaned the bathroom.Christy – Mac used to fight his tux but now he likes it.
