Look On My Works, Ye Mighty, and Despair

I got the latest BNL CD, Barenaked Ladies are Men, and found two surprises on the enhanced CD. First, it contains a feature that lets you re-mix a few of the songs, including a lovely pop-up box that contains the lyrics:

Huh_1

Sure, it looks obvious to YOU, but if you had flown through the installation of mysterious software and did not, well, read the screen, you too may have thought the Do Ba virus had infected your PC.

The second surprise is devastating. It might rival <Catherine’s NPH discovery.

The enhanced CD had two songs I hadn’t heard before, so of course, time to study up on the lyrics. Here, verbatim, is the fourth line of What A Letdown:

Maybe if I jiggle it a little it’ll open on it’s own

No, I thought. No. Perhaps that’s how they punctuate the pronoun “its” in Canada. I’d already forgiven “May some lightening strike me dead” as a clever pun.

I just went right to bed. Now it’s the next day (I just double-checked that in my head three times: Now it-is the next day, yes, that’s right), and I’m devastated.

Still a good song, though.
